Meet Karen Johnson

Born in Eureka, Missouri, Karen Johnson spent most of her childhood growing up in Michigan. When she was younger, Karen dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, but over time, her path led her toward a career in caregiving—a decision she finds incredibly rewarding and wouldn’t change.

Karen has dedicated many years to caring for others. Before joining Golden Life AL, she worked for the previous owner for 12 years. She officially became part of Golden Life AL in 2026 when the organization took over the home, bringing with her years of experience and a genuine passion for supporting residents.

For Karen, the residents are what she loves most about her work. Knowing they feel safe and comfortable in their home is especially important to her, and seeing a smile on their faces makes her work worthwhile. Her approach to caregiving is also reflected in the advice she would give to others: never ask someone to do something that you wouldn’t be willing to do yourself.

Outside of work, family is an important part of Karen’s life. She has two children, three grandsons, and one granddaughter. Some of her happiest moments are simply spending time together as a family, whether they are celebrating holidays, birthdays, or enjoying one another’s company.

Karen also enjoys getting outdoors and spending time camping and hiking with family and friends. Whether she is creating memories with the people she loves or helping residents feel safe and at home, Karen values the relationships she has built and the opportunity to care for those around her.
